The sun came out and so did racing fans. From hats to Mint Juleps to the race, there was something for everyone at the Derby, especially when it came to choosing the perfect way to express their fashion sense, via their head.
Big, tiny, colorful, lacey, flowery, traditional and alternative; the hats at the 134th Derby were the real stars of the race.
And speaking of hats and stars, the red carpet was full of celebrities strutting with their favorite headwear for the special Kentucky occasion.
Before Big Brown won at Saturday’s Derby, Churchill Downs rolled out the red carpet for Hollywood’s elite.
Dressed to the nine and ready to place their bets, athletes Shayne Graham and Rudy Johnson of the Bengals; musicians like Smokey Robinson, Eddie Money and Earth, Wind and Fire; reality stars like MTV’s The Hills’ Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt; and celebs like Ugly Betty actress Gabrielle Union, Playboy’s Hugh Hefner, Food Network chef Bobby Flay, Kentucky’s own actress Molly Sims and Cincinnati’s own Drew and Nick Lachey, smiled for the camera and made their way to Millionaire’s row to watch the horses do their thing on the track.
