Officials in Frankfort are asking for patience as they continue to fix an overloaded system.

The Office of Employment and Training says the automated system and Web site to file unemployment claims became overwhelmed due to extremely high volumes.

A spokesperson for the state agency says they are currently adding more servers and phone lines to accommodate everyone but some callers may still experience a delay.

There is a 71 percent increase of people claiming benefits due to unemployment rate.

In November 2007, there were 23,655 filing claims compared to November 2008 where 40,429 filed claims.
