Testimony could be both dramatic and emotional on Thursday, when a fired Dayton High School teacher takes the witness stand in her own defense.
26-year old Nicole Howell is charged with having sex with a 16-year old student, last year.
Defense attorney Eric Deters says he plans to call his client to defend herself against charges she had sex at her Covington apartment with a 16 year old student athlete from her school.
Her testimony would, come after a Covington Police detective testified on Wednesday about the over 430 text messages sent between the teacher and the student, within just over a month.
The text messages average out to about 24 messages a day.
The detective says the text messages don't include 24 voice calls between the teacher and the student during the same period.
A fellow student also testified at his surprise at seeing Howell and the student together in Mainstrasse Village, after midnight one night.
Howell could face up to 5 years in prison, if convicted for first degree sexual abuse.
