When he's in shape, which he wasn't last year, Jeremi Johnson is a serviceable fullback, who having played in every game over five years from 03-07, knows the Bengals' system.
He's obviously taken care of the conditioning issue that had him out of the game last year, so much so that the Bengals announced Friday that they've signed him for the 2009 season.
That doesn't mean a fullback isn't in their future via the draft, but not on day one.
As for who they will take when the deal goes down? Well that's anyones guess of course. It always is with the Bengals.
I'm for an offensive lineman. They have to shore up that sieve of a front line, and if not Andre Smith, then how's about Eugene Monroe, the offensive tackle out of the University of Virginia. At 6foot 5inches plus and 309 pounds, he might be the better of the two if available.
"He's I think clearly the second best offensive tackle in this class. Very good pass protector. Needs to get bigger in terms of his bulk and strength and become a little bit more physical, ideally, to protect the blind side of the quarterback. And that's the most important thing at that tackle position," says Todd McShay, ESPN Draft Guru.
