The Kentucky economy showed small signs of improvement in October, but progress is not apparent in the unemployment rate.
The Kentucky Office of Employment & Training says the unemployment rate for October 2009 rose to 11.2 percent. That's up from 10.9 percent in September.
Officials say several industries added jobs in October, but most are temporary workers.
The national unemployment rate rose to 10.2 percent last month, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
