FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Department of Public Health is reminding people who may have been exposed to floodwater that they may need a tetanus vaccine or booster.
Public Health Commissioner William Hacker says people with exposed wounds who come in contact with floodwater should seek medical attention if it's been more than five years since their last booster shot. Hacker says people who aren't sure when they had a booster should find out.
Tetanus is a nervous system disease caused by bacteria that enter through a break in the skin.
