A newly-signed bill should protect Kentucky high school athletes from potentially fatal heat stroke and other injuries.
Governor Steve Beshear put his name on a bill that will require coaches to complete first aid and sports safety training on heat stroke and cold emergencies.
The bill is the outgrowth of the heat-related death of Max Gilpin, a high school football player who collapsed at practice last year.
His coach, David Stinson, is facing a reckless homicide charge.
