FORT MITCHELL, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky Health Department will be holding a swine flu vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Grant County High School, 715 Warsaw Road, in Dry Ridge, Ky.
Details for the Grant County clinic, along with the previously announced clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Summit View Middle School, 5002 Madison Pike, Independence, Ky., are below.
"Through these community flu clinics, we have already vaccinated almost 8,000 people against the swine flu. We hope to continue these efforts with successful clinics in Dry Ridge and Independence," said Steven R. Katkowsky, M.D., District Director of Health.
For both clinics, it is anticipated that parking will be available at the school. If off-site parking is needed for overflow, people will be directed from the school to the off-site parking.
Target groups—
Vaccine will be available to any Northern Kentucky resident who falls into the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's high risk groups for complications from swine flu. This includes:
* All people 6 months through 24 years of age (for children under 18, parents must be present to provide consent)
* People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
* All pregnant women
* Health care and emergency services personnel
* Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
Vaccine availability—
* The Health Department anticipates having a sufficient number of vaccine doses available to serve all on a first-come, first served basis. No prior registration is required.
* The clinics will end at 4 p.m. Lines may be closed earlier to allow for all of those in line to be vaccinated by 4 p.m.
* Vaccine will be available in both shot form and nasal spray, as supplies allow.
* Anyone who has an allergy to eggs will not be eligible to receive the vaccine.
* If you plan to receive the vaccine in shot form, you are asked to wear a short-sleeved shirt to allow faster access to the upper arm for vaccination.
* All vaccines will be administered at no charge.
* Children under age 9 who require their second dose of swine flu vaccine must have at least 30 days since the first vaccination in order to receive the second dose at the clinic.
