Motorists Urged To Use Caution

COVINGTON, Ky. -- Motorists are urged to use caution at roadwork sites across Northern Kentucky.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6, work underway in the region includes:

BOONE COUNTY

North Bend Road (KY 237) from I-275 to Kara Lane – As construction continues on this project, please be aware of changing traffic alignments and please watch for work crews along North Bend Road (KY 237). The new section of KY 237 between Cardinal Way and Graves Road has been opened including the roundabout at the KY 237/Graves Road intersection. Please follow all traffic control signs and markings as posted. On this project, please watch for flaggers and be aware of trucks entering and exiting the highway. Traffic may be periodically stopped through this area to allow equipment to pass. Motorists are advised the speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph through this area. Expect delays particularly during rush hour periods.

KY 842 (Houston Road) from KY 18 (MP 4.8) to Turfway Road (MP 6.1) – Lane restrictions may be in place on through Oct. 2 from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day. Expect minor delays. Please watch for flaggers and watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway.

CAMPBELL COUNTY

KY 1936 (Kenton Station Road) – Road work will start on KY 1936 beginning Tuesday, Sept. 29. Construction activities will take place between the US 27 and Lees Road. Watch for traffic control devices and construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway. The roadway will be closed with flaggers at each end, Emergency vehicles, school buses and local traffic will be accommodated.

Licking Pike (KY 9) from MP 17.5 – MP 18 at I-275 Interchange (Exit 77) – Watch for shoulder closures on KY 9. During off-peak periods (6 p.m. – 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.), lane restrictions may be in place. Expect minor delays. Watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway. Please be aware that height restrictions may be posted.

I-275 (MP 74.2) @ Alexandria Pike (US 27) Overpass – Watch for shoulder closures on I-275. During off-peak periods, traffic may be slowed for short periods by police officers. Expect minor delays. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through this area. Watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway.

I-275 (MP 76.4) @ Johns Hill Road (KY 2345) Overpass – Watch for shoulder closures on I-275. During off-peak periods, traffic may be slowed for short periods by police officers. Expect minor delays. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through this area. Watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway.

I-471 (MP 0) @ I-275 (MP 75) Interchange – Watch for shoulder closures on I-471 and I-275 at the I-471/I-275 Interchange. Nightly, lane closures may be in place on I-471 and I-275 at the I-471/I-275 Interchange from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. During off-peak periods, traffic may be slowed for short periods by police officers. Expect minor delays. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through this area. Watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway.

KY 2238 Three Mile Creek Road – Three Mile Creek Road (KY 2238) is closed between Johns Hill Road (KY 2345) and Gibson Lane. The road will be closed until the project is completed. A detour is marked, utilizing Johns Hill Road (KY 2345). Watch for construction traffic and trucks entering and leaving the roadway.

US 27 (Falmouth to Newport Road) – Road Construction has begun on US 27. The work zone will encompass the area between Parkside Drive and Nagel Road (West); immediate construction activities will begin approximately ½ mile south of Hillview Drive. Watch for traffic control devices and construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway. The speed limit throughout the work-zone will be reduced to 45 mph.

KY 1892 (Grand Avenue) @ I-471 SB – Signal Replacements have begun at the intersection of Grand Avenue and I-471 SB. Watch for traffic control devices and construction traffic entering and leaving the roadway.

CARROLL COUNTY

US 42 from the Trimble County line to KY 36 at Prestonville will have resurfacing work performed beginning Monday, Sept. 21. Motorists should expect lane closures and traffic flagging operations in this location.

KY 1226 (Kings Ridge Road) from milepoint 1.9 to US 42 will have resurfacing work performed beginning Monday, Sept. 21. Motorists should expect lane closures and traffic flagging operations in this location.

I-71 south and northbound at mile point 39.5 (Mill Creek Road bridges) Traffic is reduced to one lane in both directions for bridge deck repairs. There is a wide load restriction in effect only for northbound traffic – loads wider than 11 feet must exit at #34. The lane closures will be in place until further notice.

GALLATIN COUNTY

KY 465 OVER I-71 – The KY 465 overpass will be closed starting Sept. 14 and will remain closed until Oct. 2, Monday through Friday, open on the weekends, for bridge deck repairs. There will be a signed detour. Watch for traffic control devices and construction traffic entering and the leaving the roadway.

KY 16 between Napoleon and KY 562 will have drainage pipe replacement work in preparation for resurfacing beginning Monday, Sept. 21. Motorists should expect lane closures and traffic flagging operations in this location.

GRANT COUNTY

Beginning Monday, Sept. 28, KY 1132 will be closed to through traffic during the day as the maintenance crew and a contractor perform a slide correction. The hours will be 7 am to 7 pm and local traffic will be allowed up to the project area but NOT through the project area. Road closed signs will be posted with KYTC personnel to assist motorists at KY 36 (mile point 6) and KY 467 (mile point 0). The slide area is near Jameison Road at approximately mile point 3.0. The slide is on “Jameison Hill” which might be more recognizable location description for local residents. We anticipate this taking a week to complete.

I-75 @ MP 143-152 Northbound & Southbound – Traffic has been shifted to the other side of the existing temporary barrier wall. Southbound traffic will be crossing over to the northbound side of I-75 at approximately MP 152 and traveling on that side until approximately MP 145 where they will cross back to the southbound side of the interstate. This pattern will remain until further notice with a temporary barrier wall separating two lanes of traffic in both directions. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph in the work zone. Please be aware of trucks entering and leaving the project area.

KY 1132 (Folsom-Jonesville Road) – Beginning Monday, September 28th through Friday, Oct. 2, KY 1132 will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Crews will be repairing a slide near Jameison Road at approximately the 3 mile marker. Road closed signs will be posted at KY 36 and KY 467. Local traffic will be permitted up to the project site.

HARRISON COUNTY

(U.S-27) FROM KY-62 EAST SOUTH TO KY-62 WEST
A resurfacing project will begin on Sept. 29 from 7 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. This project should be finished by Oct. 9.

At the same time frame there is a second project. KY-36) from the intersection at (KY-356 / KY-2355 / KY-36) and bridge west of town east to US 27, a resurfacing project will begin on Sept. 29 from 7 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. This project should be finished by Oct. 9.
These projects are within limits of Cynthiana. Expect delays. Watch for trucks.

KENTON COUNTY

Interstate 275 WB - The right lane of I-275 WB will be closed on Monday, Sept. 28 beginning at 6:30 p.m. between the KY 17 on ramp and the Turkeyfoot Road off ramp. Watch for traffic control devices and construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway.

KY 1120 (12th Street Covington) – Road Construction has begun on 12th Street in Covington. Construction activities will take place between the NB I-75 off ramp and Russell Street. Barrier Wall will have been placed on EB 12th street. Street Parking will no longer be available on EB 12th Street. The south side of Lee and Fisk Streets are closed at their intersection with 12th street. Watch for traffic control devices and construction traffic entering and leaving the roadway. The speed limit throughout the work-zone will be 20 mph.

KY 371 (Buttermilk Pike) @ Royal Drive – Signal Replacements have begun at the intersection of Buttermilk Pike and Royal Drive. Watch for traffic control devices and construction traffic entering and leaving the roadway.

I-75 @ MP 183-190 – Various lane closures on I-75 NB and SB can be expected during overnight hours. The lane closures may be encountered between mile points 183 – 190.

OWEN COUNTY

KY 22 - Gratz Bridge (approximately at the 6 mile marker) – The Gratz Bridge replacement project has begun. Clearing and grubbing is the only operation taking place this week. Blasting may begin next week with hauling blasted material beginning soon after. Traffic is allowed during daylight hours but is not allowed from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be some one way traffic during these operations.
