HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University Department of Communication will host the first NKU Media Arts Festival for high school students on Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the NKU Student Union.
High school juniors and seniors will participate in this highly anticipated event, which will include the opportunity to meet and interact with local production companies, independent artists, filmmakers, screenwriters and many other professionals from the field of media arts.
Students from Scott, Simon Kenton, Dixie Heights, Owen County and Summit Country Day high schools will attend the event. The festival will consist of an awards ceremony, various seminars and campus activities specifically designed for the next generation of media creators.
The one-day event is jam-packed with sessions and workshops such as:
- One-on-one discussions with members of the Greater Cincinnati & Kentucky Film Commissions
- Getting Started [in the business]
- Documentary film
- Video as art
- The importance of film fests
- Scriptwriting
- Camera workshops
- Makeup and special effects
- Lighting demos & Grip Truck tours
- Satellite uplink truck demos
In addition to the interactive and informative sessions, the event also features a film competition.
