All lanes are now open after a major paint spill that took more than 14 hours to clean up.

During Wednesday's evening rush hour, Cincinnati police had opened the left lane of southbound I-75 in the West End while crews continued to cleanup a massive paint spill.

All of the lanes had been shut down since early Wednesday morning after multiple accidents. As of 5:45 p.m., officials expected the remaining lanes of the interstate to be closed for another couple of hours, so drivers were urged to avoid the area.

Police say Mark Iannuzoo, 41, of Liberty Township, lost control of his van, changed lanes and struck another southbound vehicle driven by Kimberly Gwinner, 48, of Fairmount, around 4:35 a.m.

After impact, Gwinner's car struck a concrete median barrier and overturned entrapping her in the vehicle. She was transported to University Hospital where she was treated and released.

Iannuzoo was not injured, according to police.

Investigators say Iannuzoo and Gwinner were wearing their seat belts.

Moments after that accident, a second crash occurred.

Police say David Coomes, 41, of Richland, Indiana, lost control of his tractor trailer while trying to avoid the first accident. Coomes' tractor trailer struck two other trucks that stopped after the first crash. The contents of Coomes' trailer, three 55 gallon drums of paint, spilled onto the roadway.

A tractor trailer operated by Bobby Waldridge, 43, of Springfield, Kentucky, was stopped on the right side of the interstate when it was struck by Coomes' vehicle.

Another motorist, Jeffrey Baker, 51, of Hamilton, was stopped in the high speed lane when his box truck was struck by Coomes' vehicle. Baker was not injured.

Police have charged Iannuzzo and Coomes with failure to control. Iannuzzo is also charged with driving under suspension.

Crews worked all day to soak up the paint.

The accidents remain under investigation.
