This student was never asked to remove his makeup or jewerly, when he saw that the tux covered his necklace he refused to wear it. He was then told he couldn't take the picture without the tux. He still refused-it is not at all like the article describes it.

Considering the young man was allowed to attend school everyday with no consequence to his appearance, it's foolish to refuse to allow his picture in the official yearbook photos. There are other people in the senior pictures in your article that have a less than traditional look - one boy featured inthe center of the composite photo has hair past his shoulders. So it seems to me that the principal is more concerned with the fact that Mr. Edwards refused to wear the faux tuxedo than with his make-up and accessories. Not only will he be remembered for being a non-conformist, but the principal and superintendent will be remembered as narrow minded. Yep, sounds like a typical small town high school to me.

The boy should be left out of the yearbook and he and his mother should be referred to counseling or therapy for their obvious problems. Allowing a child to dress like that is inexcusable! Three cheers for the school for doing the right thing!

The people throwing stones and judging this young man for being himself, are the same people who fight so hard against any type of change. The children of today are not any different than those of us from yesterday...we all turned out okay. Let him be. We all had to fight for something, this is his. Shouldn't we at least try to support his right to be different? Any young adult who is willing to stand tall and stay true to themselves, will always have my support.

Leave the boy alone. I had 2 boys that went thru this. He isn't bothering anyone. The high scoll that they attended in Kenton County had the eourtisy to allow the kids to put thier pictures in the yearbook and believe me, there were some strange ones. Let his parents take care of him and others need to worry about thier own homes.
