Kentucky State Police have identified the victim in a fatal fire in Bracken County.

The victim is 58-year-old Anders David Lassen.

Police say their investigation into the cause of death and the fire is ongoing.

Neighbors have questions surrounding the death of a fire victim in Northern Kentucky.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, a passerby called for help after seeing fire coming from a mobile on home located off Mary Ingalls Highway just outside of Augusta in Bracken County.

"Most of it was on fire about three fourths of it was on fire and fully involved in flames," said Augusta Fire Chief Jim Wilson.

Neighbors told the fire department they noticed the victim's truck still in the driveway.

After the fire was out, they found the victim's remains in the debris.

Kentucky State Police called in well-known forensic anthropologist Dr. Emily Craig to assist with the investigation.

"Where the body was found, the way it was burnt beyond recognition and she is assisting us with telling us more about what happened. We don't know the specific cause of death. Hopefully we'll know more after the autopsy," said Det. Jeremy Murrell with KSP.

"He would always help anybody out," said Timothy Poe, a neighbor.

Poe said the man who lived inside the mobile home rented the property and ran a junkyard.

He is left with many unanswered questions.

"Was it an accidental fire? Did something cause the fire? Or was there foul play involved because they did find a wallet in the drive way. I don't know if its privilege information or not but I did see them pick up a wallet out of the driveway," said Poe.
