LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — More than 200 Kentuckians have received bachelor's degrees thanks to a new program that helped them go back to school.
Project Graduate is geared toward former college students who have at least 90 credits but didn't get a degree.
The Courier-Journal reports that the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education says 203 people have received degrees since the program was launched last year.
A goal of the program is to help the state reach its goal of boosting the number of residents with bachelor's degrees to 791,000 by 2020.
Kentucky had about 402,000 residents with bachelor's degrees in 2000.
State officials say boosting the number of residents with bachelor's degrees will lead to a better economy, generate more state revenue and improve lives.
