Campbell County Police are increasing patrols after receiving multiple reports of a man in a black pickup truck trying to entice children over the last week.
Police say there have been at least seven different reports of a man - possibly in a Toyota Tundra - watching, following or attempting to entice children in neighborhoods from south of Cold Spring to Grant's Lick.
"It was scary I thought. It was very scary," said Brandon Hart, of Alexandria.
He is still thinking about what happened to him and his younger sister over the weekend.
They were playing on a swing set when a black pickup truck caught his attention.
"Well, it was just sitting there. There were no 'For Sale' signs or anything around. I mean, 'what could it be doing?,' is what I thought," said Hart.
The 10-year-old felt something wasn't right and decided to head back home.
"I walked up the road to see if it was still there and when it saw us, its lights turned on. He started driving really fast towards us," said Hart.
Brandon screamed out loud, alerting a nearby homeowner.
The truck took off and Brandon went home to tell his parents.
His father is a Campbell County Police Officer.
Marty Hart soon learned from other neighbors this wasn't an isolated incident.
"Everybody started putting two-and-two together and I believe Tuesday night I received quite a few calls from neighbors and friends telling me the same story about a black pickup truck," said Marty Hart, Brandon's father.
So far there are seven reports of possible child enticement that have taken place in neighborhoods off of Licking Pike in Campbell County.
"On three different instances he's tried to entice the children. One of the methods he's using to do that is a dog in the back of his truck and he's going up to the children saying 'I found this lost dog. Do you know who the owner is? Is this your dog?,'" said Officer Hart.
As a result, police have increased patrols in the Pond Creek, Derby Hills and Terrace Court subdivisions.
"Right now, this is probably one of our top priority details," said Hart. "We are obviously concerned with what his intentions are. We would like to identify him and have a conversation with him and find out what's going on."
Officers are asking residents to keep a closer watch on children in their neighborhoods and if they see anything suspicious to give them a call.
