Good Morning...It's Monday October 26, 2009
BEAR BUSTER
It doesn't seem like we've seen a game like Sunday's for years, maybe decades.
45-10 was the final, and it wasn't that
close.
STRUTTING
"Everybody knew it was going to be an emotional day," said Bengals running back Cedric Benson. He was cut by the Bears a year ago, and he believes some people in the organization prevented him from getting a job. Cedric had 189-yards rushing Sunday. Quoting Ced,"What a wonderful day and a wonderful thing, to go out there and strut your stuff."
PASSING
I'm not sure we've ever seen Carson Palmer this efficient. He completed 20-24 passes for 233 yards and five touchdowns. No picks. He had great
protection.
BUT WHY?
Chad Ocho Cinco didn't grasp it all. Said the OC, "I don't understand why it went this way today and why it didn't go that way last week or the week before that."
Join the club Chad.
RUNNING BEAR
"That was pretty embarrassing" said Bears defensive end Alex Brown. Cedric ran the ball like crazy. They did whatever they wanted to do."
BYE-BYE
The Bengals players will stay in town the next couple of days and then scatter to various points to enjoy their bye week.
Safety Chinedum Ndukwe was with us Sunday night on Meijer Sports of All Sorts. He says he'll take the time to visit family in Columbus and get off his feet. Week 8 is a good time for a week off.
MONDAY NIGHT FUN
Speaking of Chinedum, his foundation has its first fundraiser at the Rookwood Bar and Restaurant in Mount Adams tonight. For information, go to
www.ndukwe.org. His foundation stresses healthy living and education for young people. He's a tremendous young man.
DID YOU KNOW?
This was the Bengals most lopsided win since a 38-3 win over the Texans in 2002.
THE MAIL BAG
Here's a sample of some of the emails I received last night:
--From Richard-Didn't it look like Benson was about to do the Ickey shuffle afer he scored. I wouldn't have been upset at all.
--From Scott-That noise you hear was the first step toward the playoffs.
--From Mindy-It was nice to see fewer penalties than in previous weeks. Did Andrew Whitworth play today?
--From Tom-My wife wasn't at the game today and see what happens. I am telling you, she's a jinx.
SUNDAY'S SHORT YARDAGE
-Vikes lose for first time, fall to Steelers
-Romo big, Cowboys take Falcons
-Peyton was Peyton..Colts cruise
-Crabtee makes debut, catches five.
THE COLLEGE GAME
UC remained in fifth place in the AP Football rankings released Sunday. There was a change at the top as Florida slid back into the top spot and Alabama dropped to second
HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?
Despite remaing unbeaten after taking apart Louisville on Saturday, the UC Bearcats dropped a few spots in the BCS standings. Iowa moved to fourth..and USC to fifth...TCU is sixth..Boise State is 7th and Cincinnati is 8th.
THE FALL CLASSIC
The matchup is set. The Yankees will play the Phillies in the World Series starting Wednesday in New York.
THE CLINCHER
The Yankees finished off the Angels last night 5-2 to win the ALCS. Andy Pettitte got the win, Johnny Damon hit a two-run single and Mariano Rivera closed it out.
OUT OF WORK
Steve Phillips admitted he fooled around with a production assistant and Sunday he was fired by ESPN. Phillips will enter a treatment facility to "address his personal issues."
Time to head home. It's been a long but exciting day.
See you on TV
