The Reds lost far more than a game on Opening Day.

They lost a great fan and a long-time friend of the late Joe Nuxhall and Marty Brennaman, among others.

Ironically, University of Kentucky equipment manager Bill Keightley was going to the game when he fell.

He was taken to University Hospital. He died early Monday evening of internal bleeding.

Doctors say he had an undiagnosed tumor on his spine, which probably caused the fall.

Nearly 50 years on the job at UK, Bill Keightley was 81.
