Republican state Sen. Jack Westwood leads in his re-election bid with 51 percent of the votes after all the precincts have reported but there's a problem.
Because straight-ticket voting in the race was not being tallied on the E-Slate voting machines, votes cast on those machines will be have to undergo a count.
"I have spent the last ten, ten and a half months working on a campaign trying to get everybody to vote for me," said Westwood of Crescent Springs. "This is the final test. This is the proof in the pudding, so to speak and to have it messed up in a glitch like this, it's very frustrating."
Democratic challenger Kathy Groob also expressed frustration and said she wants to be sure that there is an accounting for each and every vote in Kenton County.
"Tonight’s election will not be certified," said Groob of Covington. "To have to go home tonight not knowing whether I won or lost is heart breaking."
"The inconsistencies are definitely the most shocking and disappointing part of the night," Groob said.
