Four firefighters hurt while trying to contain N. California blaze

Last Update: 10/27 5:10 am

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — An evacuation order has been lifted as California fire crews make progress against a wildfire in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

About 1,700 firefighters have been fighting the blaze. Four have suffered minor injuries.

The latest estimates show the fire consumed about 485 acres, less than the previously estimated 600 acres.

A trailer and two outbuildings have been destroyed. About 85 homes had been threatened. Residents have already begun returning to their homes north of Santa Cruz.

The fire was 55 percent contained Monday night. Officials say they expect to have it fully contained Tuesday.

The blaze began early Sunday. Its cause remains under investigation.
