Bryan Davis finished with 22 points and
eight rebounds, and Donald Sloan added 20 points, as Texas A&M got by 20th-
ranked Baylor, 78-71, in a Big 12 matchup at Reed Arena.
David Loubeau and B.J. Holmes donated 13 and 12 points, respectively, for
Texas A&M (17-6, 6-3 Big 12), which posted a 77-74 victory at Missouri on
Wednesday and has won three straight.
LaceDarius Dunn led all scorers with 23 points to go with seven boards, while
Ekpe Udoh chipped in 19 points and Tweety Carter had 10 points, seven assists
and four steals for Baylor (17-5, 4-4), which had won three of four coming
into the contest.
In the second half, Dunn put the Bears ahead 47-41 six minutes in, but the
Aggies ripped off seven straight points to go in front.
Dunn again stepped up, making a layup and three, and Carter followed with a
trey for a 55-48 edge just past the midway point. It was tight the rest of the
way, as Quincy Acy's dunk put the visitors in front 64-61 with 4:26 to play,
but Texas A&M came back at the free-throw line.
Four makes by Davis and four more from Sloan put the Aggies in front 69-64
with 2:35 left. An Acy layup with 37 seconds to play got Baylor to within two,
72-20, but Sloan converted 3-of-4 free throws over the next two possessions
for a five-point Bears lead, effectively sealing the win.
In the opening 20 minutes, Texas A&M cut a 12-point deficit down to one,
33-32, after a Khris Middleton layup with 47 seconds left in the half.
However, Acy made two from the stripe to put Baylor up 35-32 heading into the
locker room.
Game Notes
This was the 200th all-time meeting between these two longtime rivals and
Texas A&M now holds a 127-73 series advantage...Acy finished with eight
points.
